Florianopolis, Brazil – Seeded 4th in the Brazil Open, S.A’s top women’s singles player Chani Scheepers advanced to the 2nd rd with a challenging 1st round win over Venezuelan qualifier Adriana Perez, winning 2-6, 6-4, 6-0.
On the hottest day of the year, Chani was able to use her experience in extreme conditions. “I am happy with with the way i played today, i fought hard and made a few tactical adjustments after the 1st set which helped me in the 2nd and 3rd sets. I feel i have been playing good tennis this year, and hope to build some mementum this week in Brazil before heading to Indian Wells next week”.
Chani plays her 2nd round on Wednesday 27 Feb.

Perth, Australia: Chani makes her Hopman Cup Debut representing South Africa in the prestigious team event leading up to the Australian Open. Kevin Anderson will make up the mens position on the team. The format involves 1 women’s singles, 1 men’s singles and mixed doubles. South Africa will be in Group B, along with Spain,France and USA.
Chani to meet Radwanska in Montreal Clash

S.A’s Top ranked player, moved into the 3rd round of the Roger’s cup in Montreal on Wednesday, and will battle for a berth in the quarter finals against Wimbledon Runner-up, Agnieska Radwanska of Poland.
Chani, fresh off a quarter final appearance at the Bank of the West Classic in Stanford, CA has shown some fine form leading into the U.S Open. She will most likely surpass her previous career high ranking of #37 on monday when the new rankings come out, solidifying her as one of the world’s best players.
